(Munich, 2 February 2016) – They are well-known for their excellent hospitality, individual design and high quality standards: the 38 city and resort hotels of Austrian hotel group Vienna International. As of 1st February, Austria’s biggest hotel chain is repositioning itself and will now appear under the new umbrella brand, Vienna House. At the same time, Vienna House is extending its service to guests with the addition of an innovative feature: With the Media Box, a comprehensive, highly functional e-paper media library developed by Munich-based Media Carrier, business travelers and relaxation-seekers alike can now enjoy ultra-modern, digital ‘newstainment’ in 29 selected Vienna House hotels. Vienna House guests in Germany, Austria, Poland, France, Romania, the Czech Republic and Slovakia can now compile their own selection of reading matter from a total of eleven international and national magazines as well as eleven daily newspapers.

The ultimate reading pleasure is accessible very easily. Upon check-in at the hotel reception, guests have the opportunity to use the hotel’s free Wi-Fi. When they sign in with their mobile phone or tablet, they get access to their “digital concierge” (a responsive website), offering a guest directory and hotel information as well as access to the Media Box. Be it the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung or the Wall Street Journal, all guests can download their preferred publication with one click as a PDF file which is then available for an unlimited period, even after their stay in the Vienna House hotel. Newspapers and magazines are presented unabridged in the same layout used in the print versions and can be browsed through easily and intuitively. Readers can also zoom in on individual text passages if they wish. The Media Box is a web-based platform that supports all internet-enabled devices.

“If a hotel wants to impress its guests these days, it has to offer an outstanding service above all. With the Media Box, Vienna House is now in a position to provide a great added benefit to its guests. The free use of our innovative newstainment service is particularly attractive. And another bonus: Guests travel with minimal baggage, they don’t have to find room for magazines or newspapers in their suitcases, and their morning reading matter is available even before they get to the breakfast table,” says Sandra Bardewyck, Head of Sales for Media Carrier, explaining the advantages of Media Box.

In the cooperative venture with Vienna House, Media Carrier is responsible for providing all digital content and operating the Media Box. All expertise of the sales and media experts is combined for this purpose, from technical all-round testing of all Media Box functions to comprehensive customer support and consistent service monitoring.
